Resource Center - FAQs
Do I need a referral from my physician to come to Physical/Occupational Therapy?
Yes, you do need a referral from your physician for physical or occupational therapy. Once you have seen your physician and have received a referral, we will set up an initial evaluation appointment with one of our therapists to evaluate your condition and design a treatment plan unique to your needs and goals. Simply tell your doctor you'd like to go to Advanced Rehab & Sports Medicine for therapy.
Will my insurance pay for PT/OT?
We accept most major insurances, including Medicare, Medicaid, 3rd party liability, and private insurance. Plus, we take away the stress by working directly with your insurance provider to gain certification. If for whatever reason, your insurance does not cover services at our facility, we will assist you in finding alternative care and not charge you for your visit
What is the difference between PT and OT?
Physical and occupational therapy are very similar. Therapists in both fields evaluate, assess, and treat common injuries to the joints, muscles, tendons, and ligaments throughout the body. Occupational therapists are trained more in dealing with fine motor coordination skills, especially of the hand and arm, custom splinting and activities of daily living, such as brushing your teeth, shaving, etc.
Is there a waiting list to be seen in your facility?
No. Most patients receive an initial evaluation and treatment session within 24 hours of receiving a referral, because when you're hurting, you don't have time to wait.
What types of problems can be treated with PT/OT?
Physical and occupational therapists treat a wide variety of injuries and conditions, including:
- Shoulder and Rotator Cuff Injuries
- Neck and Back Pain
- Joint Pain - elbow, wrist, hand, hips, knees, and feet
